WAC is a member of USA Swimming
(USS), Ohio Swimming and Central Ohio Swimming Association
(COSA). WAC offers a variety of practice groups based on age
and ability. Coaches evaluate each new swimmer prior to the
beginning of each season in order to place him or her in the most
beneficial practice group.
Weekend Waves is offered in two 10 week
sessions. It is primarily a non-competitive group focusing on
the refinement of skills in the four competitive strokes as well as
related essential skills of starts, turns and finishes. Both
endurance and race specific swimming will be emphasized as they
progress through each session. This is offered for swimmers 9
and older that have the prerequisite skills of Station 7
SwimAmerica. This group meets twice a week on the weekends for one
hour each.
Breakers is comprised
of swimmers ages 6-8. This is available to children in
station 8 of SwimAmerica or higher. Breakers is an
opportunity for swimmers to be part of a team and work on
technique, with a series of low key competitions offered.
Breakers practice 3 days a week.
Age Group I is for swimmers ages 9-10. The primary
purpose of this group is to develop proper techniques and practice
habits while having fun. These swimmers practice three times
a week.
Age Group IIis for swimmers 10-13. This group
continues to work on technique with progressive emphasis focused on
aerobic training and performance. These swimmers practice
three-four times per week.
Age Group III
is for swimmers ages 11-14. This
group continues its focus on the development of an aerobic base and
builds the anaerobic capacities with continued emphasis on stroke
technique. These swimmers practice four-five times per
week.
Age Group IV is for swimmers ages
12-14. This is the highest level of the age group
program. Swimmers participating in this group must be
motivated to practice and compete at the highest level each
season. Although technique is still emphasized, training is
more intense with a higher focus on total physical fitness and
performance. This group practices five times a
week.
High School Only
group is open to anyone in high school
wishing to improve in a pre-season training group. These
swimmers will train with the other High School swimmers until their
regular season of training begins.
High School Training Group is open to anyone in high
school that wishes to train a majority of the time with
WAC. This group consists of swimmers who wish to
train at a considerably higher level than regular high school teams
in the winter and desires to prepare and compete throughout the
summer. This group practices six times a
week.

group is available to sophomores and up through coach
invitation. Training focuses on all aspects of swimming, and
commitment levels reflect the high goals set by the individual
swimmers. This group practices six times a
